A Monday morning it was, I woke up and said to myself -"Uh, I hate Mondays", like Garfield does. Checked my watch and it was half past 6. I say God, why me? Then I roll all over the bed, trying to get those few more seconds of sleep. Finally, after a while, I pull myself to the washroom, take a hot shower and am ready for breakfast.
With the daily edition of Times of India clutched in my hand, I lazily walk towards the waiting office cab only to be greeted by my good old cheerful driver who's all smiles while he starts the engine. I start flipping through the pages of the paper starting with the Horoscope section and followed by the sports and finally the main news! Having done that, I dreamily look out of the car window trying to figure out how the day's events are going to be. "At work, you will have a highly accomplished feeling as your peers and superiors will be impressed with your committment." That was today's prediction. Lets see how it goes.
As the car was cruising away from the city it starts to drizzle and in no time its a heavy downpour. A typical Hyderabad monsoon. School going kids stopped their autorickshaws and were playing in those little puddles formed on the roads. I sighed "why do I have to go to work on a beautiful day like this?" I was more deppressed than ever as if a catastrophe has befallen. But then I said to myself, to hell with the good boy impression and pulled my window glass down and sat on the window. Happily drenched I reached work and had a great day. Really!
But hey, can someone please tell me why and for what are we running our entire day? All of our waking hours are spent with strained backs, tensed nerves and God knows what else. Why dont we just stop and look around the beauty of the nature around?
Remember the good old school days? Happy go lucky, dirty after PT, just content scoring eighty. Where is that HAPPY feeling now? Its nowhere to be seen. From a daily labourer to a CEO of some goddamn company, noone is bothered about anything else apart from work. Yes, work is important. There's no denying that. But, aren't there equally important things in life?
A guy with lil kids back home has no time to spend with them. Oh yeah he has all the time and 100% concentration to be on his project and bug the other hapless colleagues that work under him. This is just one example. There are thousands of them.
I agree, we all are a part of this. I know things are so hectic. Everyone goes through it. They have to. But, I only urge you to pause a moment, think about the family or friends waiting for u to come back home, only to know how your day was. Dont you think we need to be around? Is anything so important than them? Saying "Uh, well, I am totally tied up at work, can't come down to see you. I'm sorry"-won't really help.
Just think guys. Stop and think.
Only then you will realize what you're doing and what you've missed. Do it before its to late, if not late already.
